Executive Director

Salary Package:       $90,000 - $100,000 including superannuation of 9.5% 

   

About Ngroo Education:

Ngroo is a registered, not-for-profit, incorporated association and registered charity (DGR). We work to improve the opportunity for Aboriginal children to achieve their potential by increasing their level of participation in mainstream early childhood education and care (ECEC) and other relevant services and settings. Ngroo delivers several programs aimed at equitable education outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. 

About the Position:

The Executive Director is required to provide strategic leadership, management for the implementation of projects and direct supervision of Ngroo’s workforce.

The role is accountable for content, accuracy and integrity of advice provided to Ngroo’s management board, key stakeholders, including partners, government agencies, community organisations and members.

The Executive Director is responsible in determining how to achieve objectives, including methods and approaches, business and project planning , allocation of resources and accountable for the overall financial performance of multiple sources of funding and the achievement of associated revenue and program budgets.

Offer:

  • Award Social, Communities, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS) remuneration $100,000 including superannuation.

  • Full Time position – 76 hours per fortnight

  • Located in Mt Druitt

  1. This role is responsible for championing greater health, well being, and educational outcomes for Aboriginal children. Tell us about a major project you were involved in and which was delivered successfully to improve equitable outcomes for Aboriginal children and their families. How did you contribute to its success?

  2. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are meeting performance measures, budget allocations, time frames, and quality outcomes. Provide an example of where you have had to lead and manage a team of staff in meeting contractual agreements when a project was at risk.

  3. This role requires exceptional leadership, interpersonal and communication skills for successful delivery of projects and organisational performance. Provide an example of where you have had to manage conflict or differing views with team members and the steps you undertook to find resolution.

Essential Criteria:

  • Must be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (N.B An applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW)

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

  • Currently cleared for paid employment Working With Children’s Check

  • Current Driver’s Licence.

 

 

 

Aboriginal Family Education Facilitator

Ngroo Education works to improve the opportunity for Aboriginal children to achieve their potential by increasing their level of participation in mainstream early childhood and education care, and other relevant services. Ngroo delivers several programs aimed at equitable education outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

About the Position:

Engage Aboriginal parents and their children to deliver the Aboriginal Families as First Teachers program. Delivery of the program is a 10-week home-visiting model providing parents with support and advice on implementation of ‘learning kits’ with age appropriate resources relevant to cognitive, language, literacy and numeracy skills development.

Offer:

  • Award is Social, Communities, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS); hourly rate $40.00.

  • Located in Mt Druitt.

  • Full-time position (38 hours per week), ongoing employment is subject to a six-month probationary period review.

  • Contract concluding on 30 June 2021. Extension of employment contract is subject to continued funding of the Aboriginal Families as First Teachers Program.

  • Understanding of barriers experienced by Aboriginal children and families when accessing early childhood education services.

  • Examples of effective written and verbal communication skills in providing support and advocacy for Aboriginal children and families. 

  • Strategies utilised in developing and maintaining professional relationships with local Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, and non-Indigenous Organisations. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.

  • Examples of how you have used Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook. 

  • Current cleared for paid employment Working with Children’s Check.

  • Current Driver’s Licence.

 

 

 

Connected Beginnings Services Coordinator

Ngroo delivers several programs aimed at equitable education outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

About the Position:

The Service Coordinator roles works closely with community and local service providers promoting engagement with education, health, and well being services to improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. The position will promote integration and identify opportunities for service system improvement through liaising with local partners and community leaders. The role is an Aboriginal identified position.

Offer:

  • Social, Communities, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS), hourly rate $40.00.

  • Located in Mt Druitt.

  • Permanent Part time, 4 days per week from 8.30am to 4.30pm with six-month probationary period.

  • Extension of employment contract is subject to continued funding.
